| The full revelation of what Christianity really is has eluded Christians and non-Christians for most of its existence. Nevertheless, it has always been God’s intention for everyone to fully understand Christianity, and that is why He revealed beforehand through His prophets, prophetic information about the supernatural aspects of His plan for the redemption of man.
Let us follow God’s supernatural approach and a preview of Christ before His incarnation to document the supernatural ordination of Christianity. Listen to God’s prophetic message through His prophet Isaiah to mankind:
Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
Can man’s natural senses logically entertain God’s prophetic proclamation? No! Is there an earthly or natural precedent or reference by which to compare or to which this can be related? No! Can this be scientifically, philosophically, or logically explained? No! The answers to all three questions are no, because God and His ways are supernatural and therefore any relationship with Him must be on a supernatural level. How then can that which is natural evaluate or determine the validity of what it cannot measure scientifically or relate to logically? The answer is simple. The visible evidence of a thing should be enough proof of its existence and therefore must be accepted as fact.
Now, was there any evidence of Isaiah’s prophetic information becoming a reality by which it could be validated and to which man could relate? Certainly! A virgin named Mary did conceive by the supernatural act of God. What mortal man qualifies to refute a historical fact or justifiably tries to disqualify it on the basis that it defies his natural and limited understanding of the supernatural? Justice demands just verdict and must be the rule of just law, therefore, the evidence demands the verdict that Jesus Christ is both divine and human.
Those who study His way of life and His works ask the question, “What manner of man is this?” No one is able to fully evaluate Him because He is God and man in one person. He is the first-born of the new creation called Son of God. He came to save mankind from sin and give the opportunity of a new spiritual birth to those who would, by faith, fully and completely receive Him in their heart as Lord and Savior. Through this new birth comes the miracle of a supernaturally changed life where the old Adamic nature is replaced with the nature of God.
Jesus first began to teach and instruct mankind of this new Kingdom order during His ministry on earth. He began His first public sermon by laying down His mission statement and the Kingdom principles by which His followers must live. Here is an extract from His discourse.
Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. 12Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven:
—Matthew 5:11–12
Can man, in his present state, possess the power, discipline, and will to live by this new requirement of the Kingdom which Jesus represents? He represents a Kingdom that is supernatural. Man, in his earthly state, simply cannot live by these higher principles. First, man must be born of the Spirit of God and receive God’s supernatural nature in order for him to live by those principles.
This is the nature of the Christian experience.
Christianity will always suffer punishing blows and loss while it is living and operating in the natural dimension, because this is not where it belongs. Christianity is not a flesh-oriented, self-induced faith. It was not born out of the secular; its heritage is not in the secular; its plan and strategies are not in the secular; its source and its wisdom are not of the secular. |
